The Vanda Alliance is made up mostly of warm- and full-sun-growing orchids with colorful flowers. Originating in tropical Asia, they are easily grown in warm climates, where plants are cultivated outside in light shade, such as in a lath house.Some top tips on caring for Vanda orchids include: hanging them correctly, frequent watering in warm weather, using root cuttings to propagate, using 20-20-20 fertilizer, using the right soil, potting, and repotting carefully and only when necessary, and keeping humidity and temperature correct. They need at least 6-8 hours a day of this sun light. If you are considering putting them under a tree, make sure that the canopy is not too thick, such as under a ficus Benjamin, because that will not allow enough sunshine for Vandas. Vandas are showy, long-lasting, frequent bloomers. They are very rewarding to grow and often times fragrant. Prized for their intense colors, they are commonly available in hot pink, orange, red and purple.
